American Sublime is a single-channel video installation that was featured as part of the Truck Contemporary Art (Calgary) gallery exhibition “The Slight Return” and “The Art Gallery” at Neutral Ground Contemporary Art (Regina). The projected image of a “Rothko” painting is precisely registered to an actual blank canvas, thereby casting a representation onto the blank physical form and its actual shadow. In turn, the middle colour field of the abstract painting is overlaid with a 30-second sequence of the famous Zapruder film.
